Paddock Legends
VR Game Dev
A formula 1 museum called paddock legends. Users will be able to experience countless formula 1 cars across the years and partake interactive challenges with them aiming to emulate the experience a lucky VIP may get with a formula 1 paddock pass access ticket. You will be able to become a pit stop mechanic by mounting and drilling in the wheels to all 4 corners of a 2020 mercedes car in a timed challenge event with music.
I aimed to build several distinct exhibits that demonstrate different xr interaction toolkit features and use different scripting patterns to provide a varied experience as a whole rather than refactoring the same mechanics over and over again.
The exhibits consist of the wheel evolution exhibit challenge, the timed pit stop challenge, engine rev stations and cinema experience.
The pit stop challenge is the piece of content I felt most prod of in this game and is the challenge I saw celebrities doing online that inspired me to make this whole experience around an F1 paddock. Upon entering this area of the scene the user will see a ui canvas explaining to them how to complete the challenge with a button below allowing them to activate the challenge sequence, the wheels can not be attached outside of the challenge loop. Pressing the start challenge button changes the games music, starts a timer, and allows them to pick up the wheels and drill using the grip button on their controllers.
This smaller exhibit demonstrates how f1 steering wheels have changes across four eras being the 60s, 80s, 2000s and 2020’s. There are four pedestals lined up in a corner with the 4 steering wheels being on the floor of the other side of this segmented area which was cornered off using tyre barriers. The challenge for the player as explained above the entrance of this area is to identify which wheel belongs on each pedestal by ordering them from newest on the left to oldest on the right pedestal.
I have allowed users to go up to one of the cars and press a button next to it, this emulates the experience of firing up and revving the f1 car a v10 McLaren in this case
